Mystery, Love, Action, Comedy & Horror @ TV3

TV3 CINEMA & MEGA MOVIE HAVE IT ALL THIS APRIL!
Attention to all movie lovers! Bring out the popcorn, plop into your couch and tune in to TV3 every Friday and Saturday nights this month for a series of entertaining and explosive films from Hollywood!

Viewers will be thrilled to find Tim Burton’s classic sci-fi remake “Planet of the Apes”, multi-talented Mike Myer’s comedy flick “Austin Powers – Goldmember”, uber teen heartthrobs Chad Michael Murray and Jared Padalecki’s modern twist of “House of Wax” and Ben Affleck reprising Harrison Ford’s role as Tom Clancy’s tough CIA analyst ‘Jack Ryan’ in “The Sum of All Fears” on this month’s Mega Movie, slated every Friday evening at 10pm.

A double treat for all movie fans, TV3 Cinema (every Saturday evening at 12.30am) will showcase four acclaimed movies beginning with every guy’s Top 5 favourite movies of all time, “Crimson Tide”, starring Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman. The fun rolls on with a feel-good movie, about a young couple’s journey to find romance in “A Lot Like Love”, followed by adventure/ sci-fi movie, “The Rocketeer” and Jim Carrey’s surprising poignant performance topping it off in “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.

MEGA MOVIE (10.00PM, FRIDAY)

Planet Of The Apes (Apr 4)
It is the year 2029: Astronaut Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg) boards a pod cruiser on a Space Station for a “routine” reconnaissance mission. But an abrupt detour through a space time wormhole lands him on a strange planet where talking apes rule over the human race. With the help of a sympathetic chimpanzee activist named Ari (Helena Bonham-Carter) and a small band of human rebels, Leo leads the effort to evade the advancing Gorilla Army led by General Thade (Tim Roth) and his most trusted warrior Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan). Now the race is on to reach a sacred temple within the planet’s Forbidden Zone to discover the shocking secrets of mankind’s past – and the key to its future.

Austin Powers “Goldmember” (Apr 11)
Teaming up with the mysterious yet peculiar Goldmember, Dr. Evil hatches a time-traveling scheme to take over the world, one that involves the kidnapping of Nigel Powers (Micheal York), Austin’s beloved father and England’s most renowned spy. As he chases the villains through time, Austin visits 1975 and joins forces with his old flame, Foxxy Cleopatra (Beyonce Knowles), a streetwise but stylish detective. Together Austin and Foxxy must find a way to save Nigel and stop Dr. Evil and Goldmember from their mischievous mayhem.

House of Wax (Apr 18)
Six friends are on their way to a football game. They decide to camp out for the night and continue driving the next day. Unfortunately, as they about to continue with their trip, the friends find that they have car troubles, so two of the friends accept a stranger’s ride into a small town named Ambrose, whose main attraction is the House of Wax. However, things might be a little too late once the group senses that something is not right in this town because the creepy wax figures are so realistic and the whole town is deserted- except for two murderous twin brothers. The six friends must fight to survive and escape from being the next exhibits in the House of Wax.

Sum of All Fears (Apr 25)
When the president of Russia suddenly dies, a man whose politics are virtually unknown succeeds him. The change in political leaders sparks paranoia among American CIA officials, so CIA director Bill Cabot recruits a young analyst, Jack Ryan (Ben Affleck) to supply insight and advice on the situation. Then the unthinkable happens: a nuclear bomb explodes in a U.S. city, and America is quick to blame the Russians.

TV3 CINEMA (12.30AM, SATURDAY)

Crimson Tide (Apr 5)
Instability in Russia results in the deployment of the the nuclear submarine “Alabama”. Russian rebels have taken over a nuclear missile site and are refueling them for a possible strike against the USA. Tensions run high undersea, when the launch message is received, followed by an incomplete follow-up. Could the follow-up message have been to cancel the earlier orders?

A Lot Like Love (Apr 12)
While flying from Los Angeles to New York, the “good boy” Oliver Martin (Ashton Kutcher) meets the “bad girl” Emily Friehl (Amanda Peet) and they have sex in the restroom. They stay together along the day in New York, when Oliver discloses the planning of his life – his future career, successful job and then raising a family. He gives the phone number of his mother to Emily and asks her to call seven years later to check. For seven years, they occasionally meet each other, and in the end, their relationship becomes love.

The Rocketeer (Apr 19)
Straight from the pages of a pulp comic from a past era, the Rocketeer recreates 1930’s Hollywood, complete with gangsters, Nazi spies, and the growth of the Age of Aviation. Young pilot Cliff Secord (Bill Campbell) stumbles on a top secret rocket-pack and with the help of his mechanic/mentor, Peevee, he attempts to save his girl and stop the Nazis as The Rocketeer.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Apr 26)
A man, Joel Barish (Jim Carrey), heartbroken after finding out that his girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) underwent a procedure to erase him from her memory, decides to do the same. However, as he watches his memories of her fade away, he realizes that he still loves her, and that it may be too late to correct his mistake.
