AIRASIA Named TTG’s Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier
BANGKOK, 7 OCTOBER 2011 – AirAsia added another feather on its cap as the airline was named Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier by Asia Pacific’s leading travel news publisher TTG.
With 49,000 votes casted by the readers of TTG Asia, TTG China, TTG mice, TTG-BT mice China and TTG Asia e-Daily from June to August this year, AirAsia came out as tops in the Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier category. This award reflects the airline’s popularity among travel trade insiders and the traveling public.
Mr M.L. Bovornovadep Devakula, Director of Business Development Thai AirAsia was on hand to receive the award at the 22nd Annual TTG Travel Awards 2011 Ceremony and Gala Dinner in Bangkok where a large number of travel industry professionals were in attendance.
Commenting on the award, Thai AirAsia CEO Mr Tassapon Bijleveld said, “We are thrilled to be named the best low-cost airline in Asia once again. This is the fifth time we have been given the award and it reflects AirAsia’s commitment to excellence not only to our guests but also to industry insiders. Moving forward, we hope to continue serving the region with low fares, extensive network and destinations, great flight frequencies and as always, excellent service.”
This is not the first time AirAsia has been awarded with the Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier title from TTG as the airline was voted Asia’s best in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010. In 2009, AirAsia Group CEO, Tan Sri Dr Tony Fernandes was named Travel Personality of the Year by the editorial board of TTG.
