Curves Malaysia 2nd Annual Food Drive Feeds Hungry, Waives Joining Fee

Recognizing that the need for donations is greater than ever at local food banks across the nation, Curves Malaysia is kicking off the 2012 Curves Food Drive on May 1 with a challenge to all 7 clubs in Malaysia to meet or exceed last year’s donations. Curves is a franchise from the United States and the Food Drive is in its 14th year globally. Participating clubs are asking their members to donate bags of non-perishable food or cash throughout the month of May to support area community food banks. In addition, they will waive the membership fee for new members who bring in a bag of non-perishable food worth RM100 or simply donate RM100 to the clubs’ designated charity.

“Curves is committed to supporting the health and well-being of our members, so the food drive is a natural extension of that commitment to the communities where our clubs are located,” said Curves founder Diane Heavin. “Many families are struggling with basic expenses and need some help to make ends meet. Our food drive gives our members a way to reach out and support their neighbors.”

With a theme of “Good for your body and your soul,” this year’s drive encourages Curves members to feel doubly good about themselves as they make time to exercise for good health and take time to help others in the community with a donation of nutritious food.

“This will be the first year Curves Ampang will be partaking in this great event. Our main goal this year is to create a deeper awareness that a little goes a long way. We also hope that new members will take this opportunity to give back to their local communities as they join our Curves community.” said Curves Ampang owner, Edeareena Nor

“We are also hoping that any charitable foundations or food pantries in the Ampang area or KL vicinity would contact us as we are currently short listing our charity partners. They can reach us at 03-4266-5558 or [email protected]” she continues.

Aside from Ampang, Curves Malaysia has clubs in Puchong, Bukit Damansara, Kota Damansara, Shah Alam, Taman Tun Dr Ismail and USJ.
