Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali Joins the Fight to Eliminate Single-Use Plastics

In response to the local government’s recent move towards banning plastic bags, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali has introduced its own eco-friendly measures.

As part of a conscious effort to reduce our carbon footprint, bio-degradable and plastic-free packaging is now used throughout the property, specifically in the area of Food & Beverage operations. This has involved switching to more responsible alternatives such as corn-starch straws, paper coffee cups, paper ice cream cups, cassava bags and paper bags.

These changes have been implemented at all of the resort’s Food & Beverage outlets. Mövenpick Café, Anarasa Restaurant, Katha Lounge, Jejala Pool Bar and Above Eleven Rooftop Bar are all on board in trying to reduce the kind of waste that simply sits in landfills for decades on end. By making wiser decisions, we are showing our commitment to preserving the island of Bali for the benefit of future generations.

In other areas, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali has proudly launched a green meeting concept that touches on eco awareness. Every event is now supported by glass bottles of water that can be recycled and will help eliminate single-use plastics. There is also the opportunity for delegates to use filtered water dispensers or refillable water pitchers when they meet.

The next phase in this ongoing crusade will be to replace guest room amenities with items that have bio-degradable wrappings. The resort is also currently researching natural bathroom products such that are earth-friendly and not tested on animals.

“With the Balinese government stepping up and setting the tone, there is no time like the present to take action. Therefore, we are striving to be as sustainable as possible in all areas of operation, starting with Food & Beverage packaging. So much work goes into creating quality products for our valued guests to consume, so it is equally as important for us to consider safe packaging options that will also lessen our impact on the surrounding environment,”

– Mr. Horst Walther-Jones, General Manager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali
