Mr Nakamura highlighted that Fujifilm expected to ride on the demand curve for mirrorless cameras which grew to 24 percent as compared to last year, while the demand ratio of mirrorless camera against the DSLR is currently around 58:42, thus, showing a significant increase for the demand of mirrorless cameras.

“We expect our latest X-A5 to continue on this trajectory as mirrorless cameras will continue to take centre stage with today’s selfie generation becoming more discerning and wishes to capture more professional and better images without having to carry around a bulky DSLR camera. It used to be all about convenience but now it’s all about quality.” he added.

Fujifilm is committed to making photography fun and entertaining for its customers and the Company not only encourages them to express their creativity by taking photos and sharing them on social media but also inspire the users to print out their pictures and explore the joy of photo printing to preserve their precious memories.

Hence, besides offering cutting edge range of digital cameras, Fujifilm provides printing solutions through its Wonder Photo Shop network to promote the increasing demand for photo printing.

According to Mr Nakamura, Fujifilm has seen a 250 per cent growth in photo printing at its Wonder Photo Shop since its launch in November 2016, with an average of 400 prints per day and recorded a 2.5 times growth in its sales turnover, with an average of 200 units of the Instax instant still cameras being sold every month.

“This proves how photography enthusiasts especially the younger generation are taking photo printing seriously as they want to rediscover the joy of creating prints and turning them into personalised pieces,” he said.

Fujifilm’s first ever photo exhibition in the country, the “Shoot. Print. Share.” Photo Exhibition further solidified the trend as it managed to display 5,000 photo prints at Sunway Pyramid shopping mall, exceeding its initial target of 3,000 submissions.

During the launch, Fujifilm also announced the appointment of national gymnast, Farah Ann Abdul Hadi as the Company’s official X-A5 selfie ambassador. Farah later took to the stage to share her personal experience in using the X-A5 camera.
