Final arrangements for Khadijah Ibrahim’s forthcoming concerts at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS are firmly in place. The two-hour long concerts will chart her musical journey over the last thirty years under thetagline of the “Pearl Anniversary Concerts”.

Khadijah’s repertoire will include many of her greatest hits, personal favourites andversions of songs that have influenced her career. Her unrivalled versatility ininterpretation and her richly sonorous voice will be on display in each and every song.

Khadijah will be joined on stage by two of her closest personal and professionalfriends, Dato’ Dr Ahmad Nawab and Ramli Sarip, supported by a stellar band under the musical direction of Mac Chew. “What a wonderful experience it’s going to be”, enthused Khadijah.

“I can’t wait to get on stage with these great musicians. It’s been a big challenge to put together the right combination of songs to reflect my career. And I hope to bring freshness andsomething new even to my most enduring songs”.

Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS has reported that ticket sales have been extremely strong. It is fully expected that both concerts will be completely sold-out. This reflectsKhadijah’s enduring popularity with her legion of fans.As befitting this highlight of this year’s cultural calendar, the Pearl Anniversary concerts will be graced by the presence of royalty and other dignitaries. HRH SeriPaduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong and HRH Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong, HRH Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan and HRH Raja Permaisuri Perak have all confirmed their attendance. Personalities from the worlds ofpolitics, business and the arts will also be present.

The concerts promise to be a memorable occasion. In order to mark the occasion, Warner Music Malaysia is launching a new double-CDalbum by Khadijah entitled Album Mutiara. Building on the strong sales of the Khadijah Ibrahim: Nostalgia Abadi album launched earlier this year, the new albumwill feature some thirty songs – in both Malay and English – that represent the verybest of her extensive repertoire over three decades.

The new album is also a reaffirmation of her ongoing professional relationship with Warner Music, the label thatlaunched Khadijah’s career with Sehari Dalam Cinta in 1979. Plans are already under way to record her first album of new material in seven years – a much-anticipatedhighlight for 2009.An event such as the Pearl Anniversary Concerts would not be possible without thededicated generosity of sponsors. Khadijah and Impress Creative & Editorial offer their deepest gratitude to those who have stepped forward to support the Concerts and make possible the charity fundraising drive Khadijah has initiated.

In the first instance, the Pearl Anniversary Concerts have been endorsed by two Government Ministries. YB Dato Dr Ng Yen Yen, the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, has commended the organisers for their “genuine effort to hold these concerts for the purpose of gathering donations especially for women andchildren”. YB Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor, the Minister for Energy, Water andCommunications, has been tireless in his efforts to support the Concerts.

Khadijah and Impress Creative and Editorial welcome the generous support offered by its three platinum sponsors and the individuals who made the decisions to underwrite the Concerts:
