1D Mania continues as ‘Up All Night’, the sensational first album from One Direction, scored the highest opening week sales of any debut artist in 2011. Beating opening week album sales of Jessie J and Ed Sheeran, ‘Up All Night’ sold an amazing 138,000 copies in its first week.
After months of fevered anticipation and levels of hysteria not witnessed for decades, One Direction finally unleashed their debut album last week.
Harry, Zayn, Niall, Liam and Louis spent the last eight months recording and perfecting the album with the help of an eclectic mix of music’s heaviest hitters, including Red One (Lady GaGa, Jennifer Lopez), Steve Robson (Take That, Leona Lewis),Brian Rawling (Enrique Iglesias, Cher), Richard Biff Stannard (Spice Girls,Kylie Minogue) and Rami & Carl Falk (Britney Spears, Pink, Nicole Scherzinger).
Following the release of ‘Up All Night’, the band will play a string of live dates across the UK and Ireland this December and January as part of their debut tour. Tickets sold out for all the dates within minutes of them going on sale as One Direction mania continues to grip the nation.
