Memorandum Persefahaman MYTV Broadcasting & Kerajaan Malaysia

The Ministry today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd for a proposed new, dedicated channel to educate and update the public on the Ministry’s programmes and activities. The yet-to-be-named channel will transmit via the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) platform developed and operated by MYTV.

The ceremony was witnessed by Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and his deputies Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub. The documents were signed by Secretary-General Dato’ Mohd Arif Ab Rahman for KKLW while MYTV was represented by its Chairman Dato’ Hilmi Mohd Noor.

MYTV has been appointed by the Government to develop and operate the infrastructure and network facilities for DTT services in Malaysia in order to migrate the national broadcasting system from analogue to digital by 2018, by which the existing analogue transmission will be switched off.

Currently undergoing a test phase, the DTT service is scheduled for a national rollout/launch in the third quarter of 2016.
