FOSTER THE PEOPLE TO PUMP UP FANS IN KUALA LUMPUR

All it takes sometimes is just one song to really push a band ahead of the pack. “Pumped Up Kicks,” the first single from new band, Foster The People, have caught on like wildfire in recent months and are now being constantly circulated over radio and facebook. The band was even recently nominated for Best New Artist and Best Rock Video at MTV’s Video Music Awards and has been chosen as MTV’s Push Artist of the month.

The LA trio seemed like one of the best alt-rock prospects to come out in some time. In early 2010 Mark Foster, Cubbie Fink and Mark Pontius released“Pumped Up Kicks”under the guise of Foster The People. The band put the unknowingly, transmittable song on the internet and emailed it to a few friends.

A year later, over 1.4 million streams and a song that every DJ from California to Australia can’t stop playing, selling out their Los Angeles residency, the band announce the release of their full- length debut Torches on Columbia Records/StarTime Intl. May 24th, 2011. Foster The People released an EP in January that includes “Pumped Up Kicks” and two other equally contagious songs: “Houdini” and “Helena Beat.” Foster The People will debut music from Torches starting this March when they hit the road, making stops to play at concerts in the US, Europe, Australia and Asia.

The band’s sound has a rock foundation, infectious pop vocals, and hints of psychedelic pop making their debut full-length album Torches a pop driven, electronica dream. The harmonized vocals and sunny beats are catchy as hell and make it the perfect summer soundtrack.

The Los Angeles trio intertwines 80s synthpop with modern electronic beats to create a whole new world — lead by falsettos and whistling, of course. With Mark Foster on vocals, synth, keys, and guitar, Mark Pontius on drums & percussion, and Cubbie Fink on bass and vocals, Foster the People is unmistakably new age dance rock.

Foster the People’s proud maximalism also extends cannily to their songwriting. Foster can write a chorus so bold and simple that you can hear it once and sing it for a fortnight, a tactic that has already made minor hits of “Helena Beat” and “Pumped Up Kicks”.

After weeks of getting fans to vote virally online to bring Foster The People to Malaysia, the band has acknowledged their Malaysian fans’ support and are excited to announce that they will be coming for their very first concert in Kuala Lumpur.

The total votes as of today stands at an amazing 11K. Sony Music together with PR Worldwide would like thank each and every one of you that voted. It’s because of your support that YOU, the fans of Foster The People, will get to watch the band live in Malaysia.
