Zoe Saldana

What does it mean for you to be a L’Oréal Paris Spokesperson?
L’Oréal Paris, as the number one beauty brand in the world, stands as a true leader, trendsetter, and its influence is felt throughout. I’m thrilled to be a part of its ambition to touch the lives of others, to influence them, to make a difference cosmetically and socially, through its philanthropic endeavours.

What does the tagline “Because I’m Worth it” mean to you?
Women need to be reassured that they are as important as their male counterparts and we need to know we make a difference each and every day. I care about me. I love myself. We need to learn how to value ourselves.

What gives you confidence?
Strong role models, right choices and decisions, and knowing that each day is another day to leave a positive mark on society. Those give me the confidence I need to be me.

Can you testify of a moment in your life where Beauty (the use of Beauty products) gave you the confidence to achieve a project or overcome obstacles?
Beauty comes from within and believing in yourself and cosmetics enhances that beauty. Each time I am to appear on the red carpet, knowing I look good helps me achieve that goal of smiling for the cameras and meeting with my fans. Even just applying the right lipstick for a meeting with a Producer can make the difference in me getting the part.

Cinema

How has dance and theatre helped you be successful in your professional movie career?
Dance gave me the stealth, flexibility and stamina that I would need to prep for roles. And practising both dance and theatre helped me acquire a certain level of discipline, patience and determination.

In the cinema world, who do you really admire?
I admire all artists. It takes guts to put yourself on the edge.

What is your best memory in your career so far?
The one I’m having now. I don’t live in the past.

What are your favourite movies?
I love a good story. Story first…everything else follows.

Who is your favourite director?
Tony Scott, Ang Lee, Federico Fellini, Chris Nolan, and Kathryn Bigelow to name a few.

Beauty

What are the beauty products you can’t live without?
My creams and oils….and lipstick of course. I love the Color Riche L’Extraordinaire lipstick….I love blushing harmony as a color.

Do you have any beauty secrets/tips?
Always remove your make-up at night. No matter how exhausted you are. When you are resting so should your skin.

What is your favourite nail polish?
“Scarlet Vamp”, number 404 by Color Riche Le Vernis.

How do you get ready for a red-carpet evening?
I think drinking tons of water is really crucial and I love lentils with some vegetables and greens. Healthy eating and indulging in comfort foods in moderation is my motto.

What is your workout diet if any?
I don’t diet. I work hard so I can have room to play. I pay attention to my body and overall I enjoy eating healthy. I grew up with homemade healthy foods. It’s more of a lifestyle.

What kind of guilty pleasures do you allow yourself?
Too many escargots…!

Lifestyle

What is your take on fashion? Who are the designers you like to work with?
Fashion is an art – A way to express yourself through clothing. There is something out there for every mood. I love the variety. I’ve had the chance to work with some of the best fashion designers in the business and I truly have enjoyed collaborating with every single one of them.

What are your travelling essentials?
My facial cleanser and Micellar Solution by L’Oréal Paris are a must.

What is your favourite music?
I love all music. It is universal. On any given day, I can listen to classical, salsa, top 40, hip hop and then end up on a country station.

Who are the artists you admire or collect?
There are many artists to admire. We have painters, musicians, actors, novelists, poets, directors that inspire us daily. To name a few, Basquiat, Frida Kahlo, Tony Scott, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, John Keats, Nina Simone. The list is endless.

What are your favourite cultural sites?
The Colosseum in Rome, The Louvre Museum in Paris, Stonehenge in London, The Getty Museum in Los Angeles, and the Statue of Liberty in New York. Also, a well nurtured garden – any garden… Anyone’s garden if it’s loved and kept beautifully, sometimes that is the most moving site for me.

What are you the most proud of?
My family. They inspire me every day and make me extremely proud.

Tell us something no one could guess about you…
Even though my work takes me to many beautiful places around the world, there is no place like home. I am a total home body.
