Prime Suspect DIVA Universal

PRIME SUSPECT – Premieres 3 November, Thursdays @ 11pm on DIVA Universal (Astro 702)

From Emmy Award-nominated producers Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) and Alexandra Cunningham (Desperate Housewives) comes the crime drama Prime Suspect that takes a look inside a New York City homicide department.

The series stars Maria Bello (A History of Violence, Coyote Ugly) as tough-as-nails NYPD homicide Detective Jane Timoney, an outsider who has just transferred to a new squad where her new colleagues already dislike her. Jane is confident and focused – and also rude, abrupt and occasionally reckless. She has her vices, and rumors of a questionable past follow her everywhere – but at the end of the day, she’s an instinctively brilliant cop who can’t be distracted from the only important thing: the prime suspect.

ACTOR BIOGRAPHY
Maria Bello was born on 18 April, 1967 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. She went to Villanova University, majoring in political science. She had every intention of becoming a lawyer, but she took an acting class during her senior year, just for fun. She discovered she was very good at it, and she was soon cast in small off-Broadway plays, such as The KillerInside Me, Small Town Gals With Big Problems and Urban Planning. She later guest-starred on episodes of The Commish, Nowhere Man, Misery Loves Company and Due South.

Bello then guest-starred in ER as “Dr. Anna Del Amico”, on the final three episodes of the third season. The show’s producers were so impressed with her that they asked her back as a regular on the series. Bello remained on the show for one season as a regular cast member, departing after the medical drama’s 4th season.

The actress went on into movies, landing a role in Coyote Ugly. She has been nominated for the Golden Globe award twice: for Best Supporting Actress in The Cooler (2003) and for Best Actress in A History of Violence (2005). She also starred in The Jane Austen Book Club and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Bello’s latest project, the 2009 Sundance film The Yellow Handkerchief, was released in theaters on February 26, 2010 by Samuel Goldwyn Films. Bello is also set to guest-star in two episodes of Law & Order: SVU.

Bello is set to star as Detective Jane Timoney in the NBC TV series Prime Suspect in fall of 2011.
