Tune Talk Launches BlackBerry® Service

May 5, 2011 – Kuala Lumpur – Tune Talk Sdn Bhd and Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today launched the BlackBerry® solution for Tune Talk customers in Malaysia.

The BlackBerry solution brings together smartphones, software and services to allow easy wireless access to industry-leading email and messaging, social networking, phone, organizer, web, multimedia and other mobile business and lifestyle applications. Tune Talk customers will now be able to enjoy the freedom and productivity benefits of using BlackBerry smartphones to stay connected to people and information while on the go.

Tune Talk will be offering a prepaid BlackBerry® service to customers, who will be able to purchase a BlackBerry smartphone from one of Tune Talk’s exclusive partners. The smartphones available through Tune Talk’s partners include the renowned BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800, BlackBerry® Bold™ 9780, BlackBerry® Curve™ 3G 9300 and BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphone .

This prepaid BlackBerry® service will be available for customers to purchase upon its soft launch today and will also be introduced with competitive rates pegged to the solution. The rates provided by Tune Talk are as low as RM1.50 per day or RM40 per month for a full BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) plan that includes BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and Instant Messaging services.

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a compact and stylish smartphone that offers a compelling blend of features, performance and design. Featuring the new BlackBerry® 6 operating system, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 supports 3G networks around the world, as well as Wi-Fi® connectivity and GPS for location-based applications and geo-tagging. The 5 MP camera comes with a full complement of high-end features including continuous auto focus, scene modes, image stabilization, flash and video recording. With two colours variants, Black and White, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 also includes 512 MB Flash memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB of storage.

While the BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone redefines what’s exciting about BlackBerry smartphones by combining a large capacitive touch screen and optical trackpad with a 35 key full QWERTY backlit slide-out keyboard, designed to feel optimally balanced when opened for typing. It offers support for high-speed 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) networks around the world, includes the latest generation in Wi-Fi® (b/g/n) connectivity and built-in GPS for location-based applications and geo-tagging. Its 5 MP camera takes exceptional pictures with continuous auto focus, image stabilization, scene modes and zoom, as well as video recording. It also comes with a combined 8 GB of media storage out-of-the-box, including a microSD/SDHD memory card slot that can bring the total storage memory to 36 GB for customers that want more. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 will be available in three colours, Red, White and Black to suit customers’ personality and preference.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone features a comfortable full-QWERTY keyboard for fast, accurate typing, optical trackpad for fluid navigation, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi and dedicated media keys that allow music lovers to easily play their tunes while on the go.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G also features a camera that can record video and a microSD/SDHC slot that supports up to 32 GB memory cards for media storage. Support for 3G networks makes browsing faster, streaming music smoother, and gives users the ability to talk on the phone while they browse the web or instant message with BBM™ (BlackBerry® Messenger). The array of striking and exciting new colours such as Bright Chrome and Pink will be made available during this period.
