Group CEO of Tune Hotels, Mark Lankester says: “We are very delighted to have finally established our first hotel in the Philippines right here in Angeles City, Pampanga. We would like to thank the local governments of Angeles and Pampanga, the Philippine Government and its agencies especially the Department of Tourism for their continuous support towards Tune Hotels. More Tune Hotels will be opening in the Philippines and we are excited to participate and play a key role in the robustly growing tourism and travel industry of the Philippines.”

“With over 7,000 beautiful islands, the Philippines is a vastly popular travel destination, not just with international travellers but also with the local market. Year on year, there has been significant growth in travelling to the Philippines from soaking up the sun on the world renowned beaches of Cebu to experiencing the Filipino culture at the heart of Manila. We see a huge potential in the Philippine market and that is why we are here,” adds Mark.

Tune Hotels is part of Tune Group, a lifestyle business conglomerate co-founded by Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Dato’ Kamarudin Meranun, who are the Group CEO and Deputy Group CEO respectively of Asia’s largest low cost carrier AirAsia.

The Tune Hotel Angeles City is owned and operated by Red Planet Hotels under a franchise agreement with Tune Hotels for the development of Tune Hotels in the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.

Red Planet Chief Executive Officer, Tim Hansing, said the Angeles City property was the first of the company’s plans to expand the brand across key cities in the Philippines.

“Angeles is just the beginning for what we have planned for the Tune Hotels concept in the Philippines,” Mr Hansing said.

“We have hotels under construction and close to opening in Cebu and Ermita and they will closely be followed by Makati. We will soon be making further exciting announcements about our plans for more hotels in the country.

“With Clark International Airport lobbying strongly for expansion and more flights coming through the airfield, we feel this hotel is perfectly positioned as the newest international brand in the city to be Tune Hotels’ latest success story.”

Conveniently located along the hotel and restaurant stretch of Friendship Road, Tune Hotel Angeles City is also 10 minutes by car to the Clark Freeport Zone, a former US Airbase that has been redeveloped with modern infrastructure facilities to be transformed into an airport-driven urban center perfect for the requirements of high-end IT enabled industries, aviation and logistics related enterprises, tourism and other sectors.

Angeles is approximately 80 kilometres north of Manila and can be reached within an hour by car or air-conditioned bus.

Tune Hotel Angeles City is the first of seven hotels scheduled for opening by Red Planet Hotels and Tune Hotels in the Philippines from now through to 2013. The Angeles opening will be immediately followed by a hotel in Cebu on 23 February and Ermita on 9 March. Future locations include Makati, Ortigas and Quezon City in Manila; and Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao.
