The 12th edition of the Japanese Film Festival Launch was held recently at GSC Pavilion KL with a special screening of the Japanese hit movie, “Kakekomi”. Making a special appearance at the launch was the director himself, Mr Masato Harada.

This event was hosted by Mr. Yoshinori Kodama, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan, Mrs Kodama along with Mr. Shoichi Toyoda (Director of Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur).

Among the honoured guests present was Ms Koh Mei Lee (CEO, Golden Screen Cinemas) Mr. Kenji OHTA (Chief Executive in Malaysia, General Manager of Kuala Lumpur Branch, Mitsubishi Corporation who were seen with the mingling with the main organizing committee of the Japanese Film Festival 2015 Ms. Mio Yachita (Head of Cultural Affairs/ Assistant Director, Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur and Ms. Kyoko Kugai (Senior Program Officer,Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur).

“Looking at the great selection of 13 movies or varied genres scheduled for this year’s Japanese Film Festival, we are anticipating an equally successful if not better turnout.”, said Ms Koh Mei Lee (GSC, Chief Executive Officer) who was beautifully dressed in a purple kimono for the launch event. Coincidently, GSC has just launched a new Seaweed Wasabi Popcorn today in conjunction with the Japanese Film Festival 2015. This new popcorn flavor will be available in GSC cinemas nationwide.

She further added “This year, GSC, through GSC Movies Sdn Bhd is proud to be able to value add by providing three titles for the 2015 Japanese Film Festival, namely anime movies “The Adventures of Tyrano Boy”, Initial D the Movie Legend 2: Racer”, and “Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin I-Blue-Eyed Casval”.

The renowned director of the opening film “Kakekomi”, Mr Masato Harada also shared during the opening ceremony, “ I always wanted to direct a movie in the beautiful the Japanese temple to illustrate the edo period, so it’s a dream came true”.

“This year’s movie selection will showcase some special inspired films. Movies are greater inspiration to our life and through movies, we learn to appreciate and gain valuable learnings.” said Mr. Yoshinori Kodama (Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan) in his speech.

Japanese Film Festival 2015 will be held in Klang Valley from Sept 10 – 16, Sept 17 – 20 in GSC Gurney Plaza, Penang, Sept 24 – 27 in GSC Suria Sabah Mall, Kota Kinabalu and Oct 1 – 4 in GSC CityONE Megamall, Kuching.
