She actually got her license today - no not this one - a real one!

Usmagazine.com has learned that Britney Spears is now a licensed California driver.

California Department of Motor Vehicles Public Information Office Jan Mendoza tells Us that Spears, 25, picked up her license today at the DMV office in Van Nuys. Though it is a temporary paper license, it is valid until a permanent one is mailed.

Spears was charged on September 21 with one count of hit and run causing property damage and one count of driving without a valid California driver’s license. On Monday, a judge ordered that ex-husband Kevin Federline get custody of the former couple’s sons, in part due to Spears driving the children while unlicensed.

Federline officially takes custody of Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, tomorrow at noon. Another hearing in Spears and Federline’s custody case will be held Wednesday in Los Angeles at 1:30 pm. Spears’ friend Sam Lufti told Us, “[Britney] is hoping the judge will reverse the order Wednesday, now that she is making steps to follow through with what they asked.”

After losing custody of her children, dropping them off with Kevin Federline, tanning, and going to the DMV, Britney Spears checked into Beverly Hills’ Peninsula Hotel Monday night. Friend Sam Lufti was there with her and tells Usmagazine.com that she’s feeling optimistic about regaining custody of sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

“She is doing OK,” Lufti tells Us. “It has been a rough day. She is feeling very optimistic about the future.”

A source close to Spears tells Us her optimism comes from the fact the Monday decision to give K-Fed custody was merely the result of some scheduling conflicts that kept Spears from taking her court-mandated drug tests. “There were scheduling conflicts and some errors in communication as to times and places for drug tests etc, but they’re all squared away now,” the source says, continuing, “Britney is hoping the judge will reverse the order Wednesday, now that she is making steps to follow through with what they asked.”

Lufti has been taking care of the scheduling for Britney, another source tells Us. “Sam is arranging for Britney to take drug tests. He’s arranging everything and getting it on track. Everyone is optimistic that she’ll get her kids back soon.” Lufti also took Spears to the DMV yesterday to help her get a valid California license. “Sam is a really good friend of Britney’s,” the source tells Us. “He’s a really good guy all around. She respects him.”

Still, another friend of Spears’ has a different story about the 25-year-old pop-star’s mindset, telling Us, “She’s so scared. It’s her realest moment ever.. She doesn’t know what to do.” The concerned friend adds, “She is going hit an all time low.”
