This year‟s UT Grand Prix sees Malaysian, Zairul Puad, grabbing the Winning Entry Award under the AC/DC category. This is the second time Zairul has bagged an award for his designs. He won the Most Voted award from last year‟s competition.
“When I saw AC/DC in the list, I knew I had to join the UT Grand Prix again! I was ecstatic when I was told that I have won the Winning Entry Award!” said Zairul.
Drawing his inspiration from AC/DC‟s hit “Highway To Hell”, the design features an old video cassette that gives it the „vintage‟ mood. “I‟m very pleased to have won over UNIQLO‟s judges. I‟ve always been a fan of UNIQLO and I am excited to see my designs on UT shirts in the stores!” said Zairul.
A total of USD$30,000 in cash prizes was made available in this contest, which kicked off on August 3, 2012. This time UNIQLO received 3,484 original T-shirt designs from artists in 63 countries. The musical legends at the heart of this year‟s contest have personally selected the winning entries, in addition to an online vote for six People‟s Choice Awards and 12 Winning Entry Awards. UNIQLO will reproduce all 24 winning designs on T-shirts that will be sold at its stores throughout the world as part of the 2013 UT collection.Six Musical Acts, 24 Designs and 3,484 Entries from 63 Countries USD$30,000 in Cash Prizes
