Oh!K Shares Six Special Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day!

Korean dramas can soften even the most cynical individual with romance. Now with Valentine’s Day fast approaching, there is no better place to find great ways to sweep your significant other off their feet.

Aside from catching a very special Valentine’s Day line-up on Oh!K (Astro Channel 394) featuring Korea’s top romantic dramas, She Was Pretty (five back-to-back episodes on Sunday, 14 February at 5.20pm) and Just Married (every weekday this February at 5.20pm), Oh!K has also come up with six ways that you can express love, just like couples do in Korea!

1. Personalised Chocolates

Chocolates are a must have for Valentine’s Day, but why not take it to the next level with personalized homemade chocolates instead! In Korea, it is tradition for girls to give chocolates as a sign of affection on this special day.

2. Get the “couple look” with matching outfits

It is common for couples in Korea to wear matching outfits, which shows their commitment to each other – T-shirts, jackets, caps, sandals, backpacks… you name it, they will wear it… together! Aside from looking adorable, this is the easiest way to tell the world that they are truly, madly and deeply in love! If wearing matching outfits is too much for you, then try wearing matching colors for a more subtle effect.

3. Date night and food sharing.. maybe?

Dinner together on Valentine’s Day is a must! So why not shake things up and try eating a Korean meal together this year. The great thing about Korean cuisine is that all courses are made to be shared – from appetizers, to main courses, side dishes, and desserts, portions are just nice for two! If you’re not sure where to go, check out these great Korean restaurants.

4. Couple photos

With the selfie stick craze taking over the world, it’s no surprise that taking a couple’s selfie is a norm amongst lovebirds in Korea. This Valentine’s Day, put your cameras to good use and make sure to capture all the great memories of this special day.

5. Stay Connected…ALWAYS!

Staying connected with your significant other throughout the day is an unwritten rule amongst couples in Korea. Now with so many instant-messaging apps like LINE, KakaoTalk, Whatsapp, Viber and WeChat available, doing this is a breeze! Remind your significant other that you are thinking about them with a sweet unprompted message throughout the day.

6. Hold on to that feeling

Yearly anniversaries are fairly common, however in Korea, anniversaries are celebrated a little differently. Rather than celebrating yearly, they look to celebrate every 100 days instead! The 100-day milestone implies a long-term commitment to each other and is usually accompanied by dinner, cake, gifts or all of the above! Boys, give this a shot and it will surely put a smile on her face. Mark down the date and plan something special.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Be sure to catch the very special V-Day line-up of She Was Pretty (five back-to-back episodes on Sunday, 14 February at 5.20pm) and Just Married (every weekday this February at 5.20pm) exclusively on Oh!K (Astro Channel 394).
