New Notebook HP Product Worlds Thinnest Full Performance

New Ultra-slim Notebooks From HP Not to be Taken Lightly
Company introduces one of the world’s thinnest full-performance notebook PCs

HP has most recently continued its leadership in the high-growth thin and light notebook category at its HP FINEST media event.

The comprehensive new notebook portfolio from HP includes the HP ProBook 5310m, the world’s thinnest full-performance business notebook(1); the HP Pavilion dm1 and dm3, slim, stylish consumer notebooks that deliver an optimal balance of mobility; and HP ENVY13 for consumers looking for an ultra-premium offering.

Extending HP’s leadership in the thin and light notebook category
“The consumer notebook market is red hot right now,” said Bryan Ma, Director of Personal Systems Research at IDC Asia/Pacific. “Thin and attractively priced notebooks have the potential to resonate with consumers in Asia and become a major driver for the overall PC market in the process.”

HP is well positioned to take advantage of this growth with its portfolio of thin and light notebooks that address both businesses and consumers’ computing needs.

“HP pioneered the ‘thin and light’ category with the introduction of the HP ENVY 133 notebook in June 2008, which was followed by the ‘affordable thin and light’ HP Pavilion dv2 notebook introduced at CES 2009,” said Danny Lee, Country General Manager, Personal Systems Group, HP Malaysia. “The addition of these new thin and light notebooks further validates HP’s position as an undisputed leader in notebook design and raises the bar to a new level for the entire thin and light category.”

HP ProBook 5310m: Stylish professionalism
Designed for mobile professionals, the HP ProBook 5310m starts from 1.72-kilos(3) and measures 0.93-inches thin. It sports a 13.3-inch diagonal LED high-definition(4) display and offers a standard voltage processor for maximum performance. This stylish notebook also combines durable, black anodized aluminum with a magnesium frame wrapped in soft-touch paint that impress not only with its sophisticated design at an affordable price, but with unrivaled performance in a thin and sleek notebook.

With the HP ProBook 5310m, mobile professionals no longer need to sacrifice performance to achieve great battery life. HP offers the Intel® CoreTM2 Duo SP9300 processor that provides all the power a user would expect with a full-performance PC, while still delivering up to 8 hours of battery life(5) with the high capacity lithium-polymer battery.

The HP ProBook 5310m is also flexible enough to scale down to meet the needs of customers who do not require a full-performance standard voltage notebook. When equipped with an Intel® Celeron® Dual-Core ultra low-voltage processor, the HP ProBook 5310m is an affordable step up from companion or mini notebook devices. It’s ideal for computing tasks such as, e-mail, calendar and office applications and provides the ability to view high-definition (HD) content, consume and create content, and access the Internet.

HP QuickWeb allows users to access the Web in seconds when the notebook is shut down. The application resides outside the notebook’s operating system, so there’s no need to wait for the computer to boot up, users can simply push the dedicated button. In less than 20 seconds, users have a secure connection to the Internet and can access Web sites and content normally obtained through a standard browser.(6) Additionally, HP QuickLook 3 allows users to read and edit e-mails, calendar entries and contacts without having to boot up the notebook.

HP is also committed to the environment and to reducing the use of BFR/PVC in its products as quickly as possible. The new HP ProBook 5310m represents a positive step in that direction. This product will be available in a BFR/PVC-free configuration that reduces the use of these substances of concern.(7)

HP Pavilion dm series: Punching above its weight
The new HP Pavilion dm1 and HP Pavilion dm3 notebooks are lightweight champions that offer consumers an optimal balance of mobility and performance in an affordable package.

Ideal for users who want the portability of a mini notebook and the functionality of a full-featured notebook, the 11.6-inch HP Pavilion dm1 starts from 1.46-kilos and features a choice of Intel® Celeron® Dual-Core Processor and Intel® Pentium Processor.

At one-inch thin and starting from 1.91-kilos, the HP Pavilion dm3 features a lightweight, brushed aluminum chassis in “modern argento” that makes it easy to carry the notebook virtually anywhere, anytime. It also comes with multiple processor and graphics options, including the latest Intel® Core™2 Duo(8) or AMD Neo Dual-Core processors, and Intel® unified, ATI™ or NVIDIA discrete graphics.

When configured with the AMD Neo and ATI™ combination, the HP Pavilion dm3 offers PowerXpress. This in turn provides performance graphics when plugged-in, and switches to unified graphics life when unplugged for superior battery life.

Pre-loaded with HP MediaSmart software, managing and enjoying digital music, videos, photos and other content is fast and easy with the HP Pavilion dm3. New direct function media keys allow for quick access to controls, while a variety of high-capacity hard drive options up to 500 gigabytes (GB) offer ample room for storage.(9)

In addition, the HP Pavilion dm3 supports optional built-in WWAN for wireless connectivity and includes a low-light VGA HP Webcam and digital microphone for staying in touch with friends and family. An optional lightweight, external optical disc drive with Blu-ray capability is also available.
