CHRISTINA AGUILERA AND KANYE WEST TO TAKE THE STAGE FOR 2008 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS

Jamie Foxx, Chace Crawford, Ashlee Simpson, John Legend, Kobe Bryant, Leona Lewis, Paris Hilton, Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Taylor Swift, Slash, and Shia LaBeouf Round Out Star-Studded List of Presenters

Set to Air Delayed Live Telecast From Paramount Pictures

The biggest night in music just got bigger as VMA’s host Russell Brand today hijacked the Paramount Pictures Studios’ back lot to reveal more musical performers, more presenters, and more of the can’t miss moments that have always been a part of VMA history.   Christina Aguilera was on hand to announce that she will be performing a special rendition of “Genie in a Bottle” in a nod to the 25th annual VMA’s most memorable performances and will also mark her first televised performance since giving birth earlier this year.  The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards is set to air live from Paramount Pictures on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 9PM SHARP (ET/PT), and will air a delayed live telecast and only one time in its original incarnation, on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 9.30PM in Singapore and 10.30PM in Malaysia.

In addition, Brand unveiled that Kanye West will return to the VMAs to close the show with an explosive finale that will be the perfect ending to a wild night of music mayhem.  VMA news continued as T.I. divulged that Rihanna and he will debut their new duet for the first time EVER.   

Britney Spears was confirmed yesterday to open the show, setting the tone for a night of can’t miss moments.   Brand also revealed that the first 30 minutes of the show will feature Rihanna as the first performance of the night; winners to be announced will include Best Female and Best Male; Pete Wentz, Heidi Montag, and Spencer Pratt will share the stage; Taylor Swift will introduce The Jonas Brothers; and Katy Perry will sing Madonna’s  “Like a Virgin.”  

It was also announced that Jamie Foxx, Chace Crawford, Ashlee Simpson, John Legend, Kobe Bryant, Leona Lewis, Paris Hilton, Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Slash, Taylor Swift, and Shia LaBeouf round out the presenters list filled with the “who’s who” in music, television, film, sports and pop culture.  Previously announced presenters include Michael Phelps, Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Ciara, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. 

Previously announced powerhouse performers include Rihanna, Pink, T.I., Kid Rock, Paramore, Lil Wayne and the Jonas Brothers, as well as DJ AM and Travis Barker rocking the party by mixing live drum beats to scratched records throughout the show.  The duo will collaborate with Katy Perry, Lupe Fiasco, and The Ting Tings to perform new and legendary hits to celebrate 25 years of music that has emanated from  the VMA stage.
