Once again, Sungei Wang Plaza continue its tradition by hosting an exciting and colourful Chinese New Year celebration. Titled Springtime Expressions, Sungei Wang Plaza opted Wushu performances by the Wushu Federation of Kuala Lumpur as the main highlight for the Lunar Year celebration.

Officially launched by Mr Koh Chin Han, the Press Secretary for YB Datuk Wira Chor Chee Heung, Minister of Housing and Local Government recently, Sungei Wang Plaza’s effort to promote local talent and martial arts received compliment from the Minister.

“I praise Sungei Wang Plaza for staging various events related to wushu performed by our very own Malaysians throughout the Chinese New Year celebration.
Previously, Sungei Wang Plaza invited international troupe to commemorate its Chinese New Year celebration. This year however, Sungei Wang Plaza has decided to feature local talents that have won many competitions and medals at the international levels.

Wushu, which is commonly popularised as ‘Kungfu’, refers to all forms of Chinese martial arts, and it also includes taijiquan, lion dance, dragon dance, qigong and Chinese acrobatics.

It has a great potential and owns many uniqueness, from the aspect of health and martial arts. Therefore, I personally urged the relevant parties to initiate more efforts and organise more events to promote wushu at the national and international level.
