AN IRRESISTIBLE & CHARMING EVENING WITH ‘MADE OF HONOUR’

blogIn conjunction with Malaysia ’s theatrical release of Made of Honour, Buena Vista Columbia TriStar Films (M) Sdn. Bhd. organized an evening filled with scrumptious 8-course fusion dinner, chic bridal fashion show, scintillating entertainment and fabulous prizes which was held at the Ma yan gsari Ballroom at J.W.Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 12 June, 2008. The evening concluded with a special advance screening of the movie Made of Honour at Golden Screen Cinemas, Pavilion KL.

The evening started with cocktails at the Ma yan gsari Foyer, whereby the 600 over guests mingled and wandered around the booth displays, enjoying their Vino Petalo Amore and Dewar’s 12 Scottish whiskey. At 7:00pm, guests were ushered through the white fairy-like walk way flanked by tall pedestals with hanging crystals, and mini lanterns leading to the Grand Ballroom which opened to reveal the beautifully decorated white themed ballroom with enchanting white ball lights hanging from the ceiling. Tables were decorated romantically with pink and white fresh flowers, candles and rose petals.

Scottish bagpipers in full uniform kicked off the evening, and J.W.Marriott Hotel’s serving team smartly marched out in unison to serve the first course. The specially designed menu of the night featured fusion delights including dishes such as pineapple chutney with smoked duck, seared tiger prawn with tomato salsa enhanced with kerabu mangga.

While guests were tucking in the delectable feast, fashion models paraded on the catwalk featuring romantic yet classy bridal gowns by The Wedding Shop and impeccably dressed ‘grooms’ in day suits and tuxedos exclusively designed by Sparkman. The lovely ‘brides’ make up was specially created by cosmetic maestros of Shu Uemura featuring their array of eyelashes such as the Dazzling Sapphire with sparkling Swarovski crystals.

The organizers ran an extensive search for Malaysia’s ‘Most Talented Couples’ in May and the top three contestants performed at the event to vie for the Grand Prize which included a holiday trip to Bangkok, and various prizes amounting to RM9,000. Third prize was won by Zulhailah Ali and Tommy Chan who sang a romantic duet ~ Lionel Ritchie’s ‘Hello’; the second prize went to Sachin Dere and Kanaga Durga who performed an energetic New York style salsa dance. The Grand prize was won by 13 year-old Dexter Lau and 9 year-old Ash Shefa who bedazzled the crowd with a stylish cha-cha dance number.

Another highlight of the evening was the ‘Perfect Match Contest’ whereby couples were asked a series of questions to test how well they know their partner and a few games to test their teamwork as a couple. Some of the questions included “What is your partner’s favourite flower, colour, and shoe size”, and a traditional Scottish hen’s night game adapted from the movie ‘Made of Honour’. In this game, the 3 couples had to race to collect as much coins as possible from the seated guests in 2 minutes. The coins were subsequently donated to the Persatuan Kanak Kanak Cacat Taman Megah. The Grand prize winner won 2 nights accommodation in a suite at the J.W.Marriott KL, and other prizes valued at RM8000.

Other features of the evening was the presentation of prizes to the ‘Best Dressed Lady’, ‘Best Dressed Gentleman’ and ‘Best Dressed Couple’ for those guests who were truly sporting and came all decked out for a ‘pretty pastel’ evening.

As usual, the lucky draw segment was hugely popular with the crowd and there was even a ‘Table Contest’ whereby guests had to team up with their table companions to answer a quiz relating to wedding themes. Some of the questions included naming romantic songs based on a passage of song lyric, unscrambling wedding related words, and trying to fill in the blanks and figuring out movie titles of romance comedies.

The fantastic prizes for the evening included hotel accommodation by J.W.Marriott Hotel, holiday package from Corporate Information Travel, slimming packages from Marie France Bodyline, photo packages by Covershots Wedding, champagne and wine from Bacardi-Martini, vouchers from Haagen-Dazs, hampers from Shu Uemura and Ralph Lauren Fragrances, flower bouquets from One Red Lily, souvenirs from Choffles and Hong Leong Online, and movie merchandise from Columbia TriStar Films.

The event ended with guests leaving with smiles on their faces carrying their intricately crafted icing box souvenirs and Made of Honour goodie bags filled with items from the event partners. The guests then proceeded to Golden Screen Cinemas at Pavilion KL to watch an advance special screening of Made of Honour.

Made of Honour movie synopsis:
