AirAsia adds new routes & increase frequencies in Indonesia & Vietnam
Introductory daily flights from Penang – Bandung, Bandung – Pekanbaru. Additional frequency for Kuala Lumpur – Bandung & Ho Chi Minh City effective 26th May

SEPANG, 26 April 2012 – AirAsia, the world’s best low-cost airline today announced the launch of two new exciting routes; Penang – Bandung and Bandung – Pekanbaru, both operated by AirAsia Indonesia which now features a full Airbus A320 fleet. The new routes marks AirAsia Indonesia’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its connectivity from Bandung.

AirAsia is also increasing the frequencies for the Kuala Lumpur – Bandung, as well as the Kuala Lumpur – Ho Chi Minh City flights as well. The additional frequencies for both these routes will see the current thrice-daily service increase to four times daily effective 26th May 2012.

Dharmadi, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Indonesia says, “We have long acknowledged Bandung’s tourism potential. Its culinary gems, its reputation as a shopping heaven, and its rich natural assets hold great potential for attracting both domestic and international tourists. Looking back, it is truly amazing to see how far Bandung’s tourism has progressed since AirAsia started flying internationally from the city.”

With the new flights, now everyone in Penang, and the northern states of Malaysia can now fly daily to Bandung, and connect to Pekanbaru from there. Pekanbaru offers scrumptious cuisines and great shopping venues, amongst others, SKA Mal and Pasar Bawah which sells everything under the sun, from foodstuffs, household supplies, electronics to ceramics. Travelers may also enjoy Bono, a heaven for adventurous surfers. Bono also offers fun activities such as fishing, motorcyles rides, local massages, and many more.

As Indonesia’s domestic airline, AirAsia Indonesia feels strongly about supporting the growth and development of domestic cities. Dharmadi says, “We make a contribution by connecting the cities with affordable seats, which encourage people to fly and travel. Tourism has a positive multiplier effect.”

In order to provide ultimate comfort for guests, AirAsia Indonesia now operates all-new Airbus A320, the youngest fleet among Indonesian airlines with an average fleet age of 3 years.

Dharmadi also comments about the additional frequencies to Bandung, “Since AirAsia’s first take-off from Bandung to Kuala Lumpur in 2005, Bandung has been Malaysians’ all-time favorite holiday destination. The average load factor has consistently been above 80 percent.”
